Are you thinking about Summer already? I know I am 🙂
By the end of this month we will fly to Portugal and spend more than one month there. Even though Joaquim will be working from there, it will feel like Summer vacations anyway. One, because of the good weather, two because we’ll spend most of our time in Algarve AKA the beach, three because we’ll have our parents to look out for Olivia occasionally, leaving us with some “couple time”, four because we won’t have to cook everyday, and five because in Portugal it always feels like the time goes by slower, giving us that vacation sensation.
Before we go, I have some surprises for you… so stay tuned for next Monday’s post, that’s all I’m gonna say 😉
Anyway, even though it will feel like vacation, I have already some things planned. Of course I made myself a list! What were you expecting?
MY SUMMER BUCKET LIST (IN DETAIL)
1. EAT LOTS OF FISH AND SEAFOOD
You know, fish, good and fresh fish, is one of the things I miss the most from Portugal. Here in Berlin we only eat salmon, some kind of cod fish and occasionally sea bream. They are not fresh at all nor do they have the taste they have in my country, it’s very disappointing actually. I crave for sardines, mackerels, sea bass, shrimp, bean clams, cockles, barnacles… nom nom nom
2. GO TO THE CINEMA
When Joaquim and I were young and free, meaning when we weren’t parents, we used to go to the cinema every week, sometimes, especially in Summer, we would even watch two movies in a row. But Olivia only bares half an hour looking at a screen, so not even animation movies we can watch now. I really miss going to the cinema, it’s one of our favorite things to do when we have free time. It’s almost mandatory to go to the cinema when we are in Portugal 🙂
3. HAVE A NIGHT OUT WITH THE HUBBY
I didn’t know how important it was to have a date with my husband until Olivia was one and a half years old, more a less. This was one of the things I learned the hard way. I knew the theory, actually when I was working as a kindergarten teacher I would recommend the parents to take some time for themselves as a couple. But you know what I found? It’s hard, it’s really hard! My child consumes me, takes away all my free time and disposition to do different things. I get so absorbed by her that I easily forget about myself and my husband. I’m constantly drunk of happiness (most of the times) and think I don’t need anything else, but no, I really need to take care of myself and my marriage. I miss being alone with Joaquim and that’s what I’ll definitely do when we are in Portugal.
4. GO TO THE BEACH
Ok, I have to admit there’s no need to have this one in my Summer bucket list, I just wanted to tell you I’m going to spend a lot of time in the beach.
5. CAMPING WITH THE FAMILY
Camping is one of the things I have in my Life bucket list and I hope to accomplish it this Summer. I hope.
6. GO SOME PLACE NEW
I have some ideas of where I want to go, but I wouldn’t mind at all staying in Portugal and get to know my country a little better. There are so many places there that I still don’t know. Oh, we could even go camping for a weekend somewhere new!
7. SHOPPING WITH MY MOM
I hate shopping, I really do, but my mom hates it more. Though when I’m there, she really appreciates shopping for clothes with me because I basically pick the clothes for her and make her try them all. I make her happy by making her taking care of her self. And I really enjoy the time we have together, you know, just like when I was a kid, no husband, no daughter, no one, just the two of us. It would be even be more awesome if my sister could join the girls party, let’s see.
8. EAT LOTS OF ICE CREAM
Like number four, because it’s Summer, baby! And in Summer you eat a lot of ice cream, no need to remember me of that 😉
9. WORK ON PACKMAHOME
I have a lot of plans for packmahome, but I really need some down time to take care of those. I’m eager to have some quality time here with my sweet bloggie.
10. HAVE SEVERAL FAMILY LUNCHES
One of the things I appreciate the most when I go to Portugal is having lunch with my extended family. It’s really hard to get everybody together. You know what they say, you only get together at weddings and funerals. But in Summer we usually succeed and I can’t wait to see everyone.
And what about you? Do you have any plans for your Summer already? You can take notes of everything you want to do using this free printable My Summer Bucket List I prepared for you. Just click on the image bellow or download it HERE.
